Activity Breaks and Walking Holidays 2010 | Lake District | Cumbria

BEST OF WAINWRIGHT (5 Days)

On this 5 day walking holiday we’ll guide you on some of the best hill walking routes the Lake District has to offer.
These routes have been carefully selected from Wainwright’s pictorial guides. Having walked them you’ll fully appreciate why Wainwright considered the Lakeland fells to be so special. The routes you’ll walk and the hills climbed will include some of Wainwright’s particular favourites. For this walking holiday we’ve built on our three day Wainwright’s Favourites break to include more of Lakeland’s highest and most enigmatic mountains.

We found it hard coming up with the final choice in our “Best of Wainwright” selection but we think we’ve succeeded in putting together a great itinerary. There’s a lot of variety with some days longer and more challenging on the higher ranges combined with shorter days at a lower level. Our itinerary will demonstrate the uniqueness and diversity of hill walking in the Lake District and why Wainwright loved these hills so much.

Our aim is to give you five high quality walking days in the heart of Lakeland. You’ll be guided each day by Summitreks qualified walking group leaders. They are highly experienced, relaxed and very keen for you get the very most out your walking holiday. Summitreks is the largest independent provider of Adventure Activities in the Lake District. We’ve operated in Lakeland for 25 years delivering mountaineering courses, hill walking breaks and holidays. For this holiday you’ll be based at Borrowdale YHA. Borrowdale YHA provides 4 star hostel accommodation and is located in the heart of Lakeland’s mountains with access to some of the best hill walking in the country.
