What you need to bring

What to wear

All Summer activities
All Summer activities are more comfortable with a full arm and leg covering of warm clothing, ideally Fleece type material, second choice wool mixture. Cotton is fine until it gets soaked, then it refrigerates you.

T shirt and shorts are not enough.
Jeans are NOT recommended for any activity, apart from travelling home.

Preferably two long sleeved layers, and one long legged layer, with your lightweight waterproof jacket over the top. If you have waterproof trousers bring them, could always use them. You can always take off layers, but its hard to put on what you have not got!
And be aware of the variety of English weather we get. After all this is The LAKE District.
If you wear spectacles bring your spec saver.
If sun shine, bring a sun hat and sun screen.

All Summer activities need a change of clothing

towel, change of underwear, change of footwear and socks, change of outer layers, lightweight waterproof jacket, lightweight waterproof trousers (if you've got some that fit you). If you get wet, a bag to put wet kit in.

Bring gloves, warm hat and additional warm clothing if weather not the best.

And lunch and drinks.

ABSEILERS, ROCK CLIMBERS, Gorge Scramblers and AQUASEILERS

If you've got walking boots use them, otherwise footwear with a treaded sole is best. And wear plenty of warm layers as the sites are often exposed.
The lightweight waterproof jacket is essential to keep you warm.
Not jeans. Towel?

KAYAKERS

The lightweight waterproof jacket is essential to keep wind off. Footwear should have a thin compact sole, you are going to stuff your feet in the footwear down the thin end of a kayak. We keep footwear on all the time to avoid cut feet.
T shirt and shorts are not enough. Long sleeved and long legged layers are better.
Getting wet is your choice. Buoyancy aids provided.
Protect yourself from the sun, bring a sun hat and sun screen, wear long layers.
Towel
Not jeans.

Children's Adventure Day

Three activities may need four sets of clothing, especially if Gorge and Kayak included, or if weather is wet. Other day choices are a bit drier, probably get away with less changes of clothes.
Not jeans. Not just T shirt and shorts.
Bag to put wet kit in.
Towel?
Lunch and drink.
Spare footwear.
Warm clothes to go home in are the fourth set.

Orienteering

Long layers are necessary to reduce scratches from undergrowth.
Clothing to protect from wind and rain.
Footwear with good grip for sloping and sometimes slippery surfaces are recommended.
pencil.
